Some super interesting takes on Mataro coming from the Vale these days. Check out this perky little number from Alisdair Park. The Familiar Creature Mataro is a slippery, spice-riddled, perky version of the variety packed with personality. Only 200 cases made. Great job for a first release from this new McLaren Vale producer. Come and get some at DD! @familiarcreature_wines #mclarenvale#mataro#inthebushes#topbooze Cheers :)
BEE BIODYNAMIC 🐝 One of the most urgent environmental concerns facing the wine community is the preservation of the Honeybee - the literal backbone of all agriculture.
Querciabella practices a proprietary vegan cruelty-free approach to it’s biodynamic farming methods in all 105 hectares of its Tuscan vineyard holdings. Their vineyards are located throughout the Chianti Classico zone and on the southern coast of Maremma. In the absence of pesticides, synthetic agents and genetically modified plants, Querciabella’s numerous bee families are able to thrive in a healthy environment, where they feed off chemical-free plants and over thirty varieties of biodynamic cover crops. The honey is not harvested to allow the colonies to find their own balance in a healthy, natural environment.
This is an image I took from one of their hillside vineyards in Chianti. While it may not be the perfectly manicured Tuscan Vineyards you typically think of, the natural environment makes for some pretty spectacular wines.
