🔴FRONT SQUAT GRIPS🔴
Squats are one of the best, if not the best exercise for developing strong & athletic legs & glutes. While the back squat has pretty much “the same grip style”, the front one actually does have have some grip variations depending on what people feel comfortable with. -
1️⃣Cross Grip: the bar is placed on the shoulders. Arms are crossed in front of the body and placed on the bar on the opposite shoulders. As long as you can keep the bar on your shoulders when going down (by pushing your elbows up) you can keep the hands on the bar without gripping it aswell, however I find that gripping the bar waaaaay more stable.
2️⃣Front rack: this is the traditional way of front squat gripping used in the Olympic weight lifting for the Clean (Olympic exercise). Bar is on the shoulders and the elbows are forward with the fingertips under the bar. You're not holding the bar with your whole hands. -
3️⃣Double Overhand: this is the rarest grip. I honestly didn't believe it was possible to grip the bar like this but I've actually seen it (and I got pictures if you still don’t believe me)so.. yeah. Honestly I've tried many times but I'm not able to do it, even though for those who can, this grip seems to be hella strong and very stable aswell. Try it out (if you're able to!)
TAG somebody who’s learning the Front Squat!
When I was 10 years old I was bucked off a horse and broke my forearm into an L shape. It was one of my first times ever on a horse. I was in a full arm cast for 6 weeks. Shortly after we moved to New Hampshire and seeing the beautiful hills and open land I naturally begged my parents for a horse, or horseback riding lessons. The fact that one horse got spooked which resulted in a bad injury didn’t seem to bother me, or I just had a death wish who knows (I probably have a death wish) but ever since that incident horses have been my favorite creatures on the planet and I can barely control myself when I see one now. I took English riding lessons in NH until I had to move to Arizona where I was no longer able to. My heart broke and I honestly still miss it to this day. I’d give anything to ride again ❤️
